The Measure Of All Man-Poem

by Samuel De Lemos

The measure of all man
is to be quiet
finger to the mouth
and zip.
Let the woman talk.
Whatever she’s carrying;
Let her say it—
Let her get every word combination out.
Then nod approvingly.
As soon as you know every possible thing
has been said, slowly walk away.
You’ve just been reproved.
As long as you haven’t said a word
it’s all right,
if not go to step one
and try again.
