Ode To The Stanislaus Poem A Collaborative Community Poem | Corner Of Oakdale And Merle

by Samuel De Lemos

On the corner of
Oakdale and Merle
on the east-side
of town,

I saw a grey squirrel
cross the street.
Similar to how a stunned
tourist behaves during
of the Bulls.

Up a maple tree
he scurried,

to get a better
vantage point,
and catch
the morning

admire the
new Starbucks
they’ve built, and
see what the
heck is brewing!

Inspired by The Stanislaus Poem, a collaborative community poem 2014. As a new member of the Modesto community I’m happy to include my entry a bit late. Hopefully, by next year I’ll know about it in advance.
