The Tale Of A Lemon Poem

by Samuel De Lemos

I read a poem

About a lemon.

It was lovely and well

Thought out.

The lemon becomes

The focus of the

Poets meticulous attention.

Slowly,

the yellow tart

Rind is peeled—

Infusing his words

With a garden’s summer

Fragrance.

The poet then squeezes the

Luscious fruit of all it’s

Meaning, filling my

Pristine white cup

To the brim.

Lifting up the vessel, I

Thank God for the sustenance,

And drink until

I became perfectly sated.
