Eating Crow

On a bike excursion
with my son-
we got a flat tire.
It blew our day.
Off our bikes-
walking rather
than riding we
went on
our way.
And, so morose
both of us
Stayed.
A crow
perched high
above.
Saw this
awful
Sight
And, caw’d caw’d caw’d
“Did you hear that”, dad? my son said.
“Even that bird is laughing at us”, I
replied.
“Stop it”, with fist uplifted-at the crow, he cried.
Caw, caw, caw
Came the birds facetious reply.
Hanging our heads
we walked off instead,
nothing left of us-
No!
Not even our pride!
